Tornado 8-19-09

Ok so I'm a couple days late, but I felt the need to blog about my tornado experience it was an F0 tornado, but still very scary, but here's my account. I was sitting at my desk just working away when the lights flickered for a second and I said "hmm that's not good" then all of the sudden still typing away working I notice what I thought were birds flying erratically outside the "HUGE GLASS WINDOWS!" I was sitting 5 feet away from then I realized that those aren't birds they're tree branches and leaves. people went to the window to look it got real dark and we could no longer see downtown and the trees were spinning (as if it were a tornado!) my ears popped and people were saying get away from the window I grabbed my purse (which in hindsight I obviously shouldn't have worried about) at the same time my ears popped the windows pulsated in and out a few times and it was loud, but before anyone could really go anywhere it was past us it was so fast. it blew out some windows in the skywalks to the adjoining buildings and cars and trees where damaged and unfortunately a bunch of houses in the neighborhood to. I heard after that people on the other side of my floor saw a car bumper fly by (5 stories up) and bang into the windows fortunately didn't break it though I guess people screamed when that happened, but I didn't hear them from where I was. the funniest part if there is a funny part is that about 20 minutes after the tornado past they came over the loud speaker and said "Severe weather has been spotted in the are please seek shelter" Um Duh!! so they made us go to a windowless conference room and we stayed there for about 20 minutes before getting the all clear. nothing happened in those 20 minutes fortunately I'm very glad that this tornado was only an F0 I can only imagine how much more damage it would have done at a higher grade considering it was completely out of the blue and all the people and buildings and trees in that area. below is a pic of an uprooted tree I snapped in my car(which was in the parking garage and fortunately was AOK after the storm) on my way home that afternoon. my second tornado sighting in my life 2 in 28 years I think that's enough.it took my hours afterwards to calm myself down my heart was racing and my hands shook for at least the rest of the work day. well anyway I have some more positive things to post about an I'll do that again soon.

A Post???

well I guess I should post problem is I usually think of something great to blog about when I'm far away from my computer oh well. I guess a good post will be we had Paula's baby shower On Saturday the 18th here's some pics.

Also this last weekend went to see David Cook in Concert with Jenny and her Mom and my Mom at Mystic lake. fun concert and Mom and I stayed overnight it was fun Mom had some good luck on the slots I did ok. and we had room service on Saturday morning it was yummy. fun little mini vacation.

Time off

Well I've had some nice time off the last 6 days, but all good things must come to an end or so they say. I made a quilt in my time off cleaned a little, went to the Mall of America one time saw a movie and just hung out and slept in and it's a bummer when it has to come to an end.time to go back to work. Ironically I just read an article about why getting a job is stupid. lol it's about starting your own business and having money work for you instead of you working for money. and man that would be awesome I'm determined to figure out how to do this. in the mean time I guess I'm stuck working. sigh oh well such is life I guess. oh and also it's Lola's Birthday today she is 6. Happy Birthday little Lola.

Toll Roads

Ok I was in California back in May driving around oblivious to any Toll Roads I'm used to the Toll roads in Illinois where you literally have to drive through a toll and throw your change in. never once did I see anything like this when I was out in California and I drove all over Southern California, but yesterday I get a bill for non paid Tolls for over $100 WHAT???? as I said I never noticed any toll roads while I was out there, but apparently I was on one for over an hour and didn't notice no one in my party noticed either. how do they have those stupid things marked because as far as I knew I was obeying all traffic laws I was sure to not talk on my cell phone while driving out there because I knew it was illegal, but I never saw anything about Toll Roads or had heard anything about Toll Roads. what a ridiculous and scammy system they have out there no wonder California is going broke they are a bunch of idiots and scammers. Thank God I don't live in California and I don't think I'll be rushing back there for a visit any time soon what a croc. I'm so annoyed. worst part is I know the girls I went with aren't going to volunteer to help pay this bill either it's not in their name the stupid rental car was in my name just great. it was like pulling teeth just getting them to help pay for the rental car that drove them around everywhere I asked one of them for her portion of the rental car bill and she looked at me like I was nuts asking her something so ridiculous how dare I ask her to help pay for her transportation. argh anyway now I'm just rambling, but argh. I hate California Toll Roads what a croc of shit!!!

Late night post

went to see 2 movies today Land of the Lost and the Hangover. the Hangover was the better of the 2. I'm going to do a review of both movies in my new movie blog. I see a lot of movies so I figured maybe I should start a blog of movie reviews I'm no professional or maybe not even that articulate when I write, but eh it's something to do. I've changed my going across the pond blog into a regular travel blog it doesn't have anything new on it yet, but atleast I have a plan for it now. I figure I can have a few blogs and try to get some adsense maybe. my goal this year is to find ways to make some extra income outside my job to help me pay off bills and ultimately help me get the house I want to buy. well not a lot else to add at this moment so I'll wrap this up

well I had a crazy weekend spent Friday Night going to see Star Trek the new movie

it was pretty good I'm not a huge Trekkie or anything, but I enjoyed it. it was entertaining. Sat I worked so that stunk, but after work I went to see Legally Blonde with my Mom. and it was a really fun show I'll have the songs in my head for a week I'm sure.

after Matt and Paula's we took the dogs to Dog Day at with the Saint Paul saints I thought it was pretty fun to see all the people and their dogs my Mom didn't agree she was to cold. also turns out the dogs aren't exactly baseball fans. hmm who knew.

How was the Trip?

Answer it was a lot of fun. we did so many things we started the trip for one night in LA Jenny, her daughter Katelyn and I stayed at a hotel by the Airport met up with my Mom who was there moving my sister. later that day we went to the Airport and picked up the Olson sisters Trisha and Alisha. then we all headed down to San Diego while there we went to the San Diego zoo and Mission Beach, but we were only there for 2 days on Monday we headed back to LA we went right down to Hollywood to go on a Celebrity homes tours which was pretty fun, but the funnest part was before we went on the tour they were setting up for something at the Chinese Man Theater it turns out it was the premiere of Ghosts of Girlfriends past so as soon as the tour was over we went and stood behind the barriers to wait for all the stars to show up.




it was such a fun experience for those of us not in LA or NY something that may only happen once in a lifetime (hopefully not cause next time I go to LA I'm totally going to scope out premieres lol) the rest of the time in LA was fun to we went to Universal studios.


here we are with Scooby and Shaggy. we went Whale watching which turned out to be kind of a mistake because I got a bit sea sick and actually puked over the side of the boat. um yeah gross and embarrassing , but oh well shit happens right. oh and we didn't even see any whales!! We did get to see Sea Lions and Dolphins though so that was good. On Thursday we went to Disneyland which is fun, but sort of wish we had had a better game plan because we missed a lot of stuff they closed at 8PM which is weird if you ask me.


Katelyn just loved anyone in the costume it was cute. our trip wrapped up with a Trip to Malibu

So overall very fun trip.

In sunny California blogging from my iPod it,a 6am here but I can't sleep cause my body tells me it's 8am still we're having fun though. We haven't done much yet, but we did see the inside of a target and a walmart never seen one of those befor we ate at Jack in the box which was just ok nothing to write home about except oops that's what I'm doing now oh well. Today we are going to go to the San Diego zoo so that should be fun. Then we are going to go find some shops or something. Should be a good day

Oy

this has been both the longest week and the shortest week dumb work stuff nothing major just knit picky stuff rules and regulations that I don't necessarily agree with, but whatever. plus I have new responsibilities at work that I haven't quite learned fully yet and it's stressing me out a bit taxes and setting up escrow accounts fun stuff I tell ya er or something like that, but it does make the day go faster when I do that. My Job is not bad I'm thankful I have a job and my company is a good company to work for, but some day I'm going to start my own business now the trick is to figure out what that business is and how to go about doing it I figure start small and work my way up, but some way some how I will truly live my life on my own terms. I'm going out of town next week for a week and will be away for about 8 days I'm so psyched to get out of dodge I just hope my travel companions are on their best behavior. as long as they are then it will be a good trip. that's gonna be good. I'm sitting at home on Friday being lazy I'm really tired, but I did want to go see a movie, but none of my lame ass friends (j/k friends) wanted to go with me maybe tomorrow they will...oh a totally off subject note here tonight I saw about 4 mallard docks waddle right by my house as I was sitting on the patio it was pretty cool to see I was even able to snap some pics with my cybershot camera here's a pic

Hello

Well still not really a lot to say just living life going to work coming home from work.. guess I should be grateful I have a job and I am it's just no my dream job, but I guess who has that, but oh well such is life. I've been trying to plan a trip to California which was planned now some revisions are being made, but hopefully it will still be a good trip still waiting to win the lottery really hoping that's gonna happen sometime soon ;) I've also been reading a lot more I've gotten through 6 books since last November which for me is a lot normally it's one per year if I'm lucky lol, but my goal this year is to read every book on my shelf that I haven't already read and then I'm going to get an Amazon Kindle so looking forward to that. well I'm gonna wrap up the entry about nothing. until next time my readerless blog

100th Post

Well it's my 100th post so some big news for the family. Matt and Paula are having a baby and they made the announcement to us on Sunday it was so cute how they did it they gave my Mom and Dad a gift bag with a onesie in them one said Grandma's Doll and the other said Grandpas my Hero here's the pics from the big announcement.

I may be nutty about my animals sometimes, but the reason I like animals so much are that they are Loyal they're innocent little creatures they don't create drama like people do they are forgiving and loving they don't shit around with you like people do people piss me off on a regular basis. Animals however do not.

Kitty Teeth Cleaning

Just went and got Elvis from the Vet today he had to have his teeth cleaned Elvis is a 16 year old cat I normally wouldn't have had it done if it were just a cleaning, but his teeth were deteriorating and I guess he was in a lot of pain so we couldn't let that continue the vet says Elvis is a very Healthy cat especially for his age he sure doesn't act like an old man cat for the most part. he's a good cat a bit of a troublemaker, but overall a sweet kitty. I was the one who picked him out at the pound when he was a kitten and he called to me then he was sickly and small, but I fell in love I even tried to put him back and go look at other kittens, but as I walked away Elvis stuck his paw outside the cage and started yowling loudly. which maybe would scare some people away because he was loud and obnoxious he still is, but I love him anyway how could you not like Elvis :) here's a picture

Back from Florida

Well just flew back from Florida and boy are my arms tired. hardy har har.. actually I got back yesterday. Mom and I went there to get away for a few days starting on my birthday July 9th-July 13th. It was a great trip the first day we didn't to a lot cause we were tired from getting up at 4AM and flying there we went out to dinner at a place called th Boston Lobster house (or something like that) The next day we went to Universal studios all day and it was lots of fun from the cute ET ride to the to much for Mom Mummy ride it was fun.

We went to see the BlueMan group at Universal Studios and let me tell you that is a crazy show it's like nothing I've ever seen before, but it was great definitely go see it if you get the chance in Vegas or wherever. After the show we went and ate at Bubba Gumps we have that here to in MN, but thier Coconut shrimp is delicious so had to go there. The next day in Florida we went to The Beach YAY it was awesome it was a beach called Caledesi island it was literally an island we went to a place in clearwater Florida called Honey Moon Beach State Park from there we took a ferry out to the island on the way out we saw Dolphins in the water and the boat stopped so everyone could get a look so that was great here's a video kinda shaky, but cool to see


The beach itself was just gorgeous white sandy beaches and tons of shells to pick from

Also while we were there Dolphins were jumping out of the water just beyond the barriers and everyone on the beach stopped to watch it was definitely awesome to see wild dolphins. The next day we saw dolphins again only this time they were at Sea World

SeaWorld was great it's very neat to see all the animals from seal ions and Dolphins to Shamu it's great

It was an awesome trip overall I got a sun tan and some relaxation Florida is definitely a good place to visit. Next time I go though I think I'm gonna go back to the Florida Keys just because I haven't been there before. next up a trip to Kentucky for the big family reunion down at Uncle Jeffs house in September!!

Dreams

Last night I had a weird dream I actually thought it was kind of funny so I thought I'd share it with the one or two people who read my blog. Last night I dreamt that I needed a part time job (in addition to my regular job), So I got a Part time job at Mrs. Fields cookies. (wait I think I already did that in real life) anyway I got the job and in the dream to I had worked there in high school just like in real life. I have today off of work because I have to work Saturday, but in my dream I had to get up to be to Mrs. Fields today at 8:00AM so I get there and the store is not open the gate is down and no one is there now it's my first day back in over 10 years, but somehow I still have a key so I unlock the gate (it actually doesn't have a gate in real life) I digress I go in and freak out because when you open the store you have to be there 2 hours beforehand to bake all the cookies so I rush to the freezer to get the dough and there are barely any frozen cookies left and only 2 different kinds so I pulled them out and was rushing to get them in the oven. ah, but then I woke up so I don't know what happened next. hmm I wonder what this dream means anyone care to dissect it Lol just kidding.

something new

ok so I was watching TV! tonight and I saw this add of this little boy playing baseball saying I'm the greatest batter in the world. I'm the greatest batter in the world and he in fact wasn't, but after the third attempt and he didn't make it he stopped and thought for a minute and said I'm the greatest Pitcher in the world and got a big smile on his face then the message came on the screen optimism pass it on. I thought it was kinda cute, kinda odd. it said brought to you by the foundation for a better life. I was curious so I went online and looked it up. and what I found was this website full of all this positive stuff and since this is the direction I've kind of been moving in being more positive and trying to live to the fullest reading the secret listening to louise hayes kinda deal this fit right in and since there message is pass it on. I thought I would since I found this site they have so much positive stuff on there and such good messages for society in whole. as cheesy as it may be check it out maybe I'm in an odd mood or something, but I'm on the positive vibe so here's a link Foundation for a better life

Vision World

Finally a new post well really not much new to say I'm back from Vegas for a few weeks now actually and it was an interesting trip to say the least, but I won't get into to much of it the best parts of the trip were Terry Fator (the guy who won Americas got talent last summer the ventriloquist) he was very good. the last night we were there we went to see Bette Midler and she was great to see in concert. I didn't win anything while I was there, but oh well there's always next time right ;) the last day I was there I started to feel sick got home around 11:00PM on the 27th and then got up at 5AM to go to work the next day and I felt awful all day luckily I got to leave work a little early, but that night I had a temp of 102.9f it was not fun so I called in sick on Friday and laid in bed for the next 3 days. that's the sickest I've been in a really long time and now here I am 2 weeks later and I've still got a bit of a cough from it. oh and the Wednesday before we left I went to Vision World to get some new classes because for one thing my insurance is accepted there and their website says that some locations have your glasses ready in an hour. great I thought I'll go pick them out and have them by Vegas. nope didn't happen I picked out 2 pairs that I liked and they said they'll be ready in 10 days ok I was hoping for one hour, but 10 days is fairly reasonable so I go to Vegas assuming my glasses will be ready shortly after I return nope 10 days past and then 2 weeks nothing I called a couple times and they say there is a hold up at the lab finally about 2 1/2 weeks later they call and one of the 2 pairs is ready great finally so I pick them up take them home first time I go to clean them the lens almost pops out argh. I figured I would bring them back in when my other glasses came in the following Monday do you think my glasses came in the following Monday nope they came in today 3 weeks and 1 day later just went and picked them up tonight. I'm still not sure what the hold up is, but I have them now so that's all that matters , but I don't recommend Vision World at least not for speedy service anyway besides that exciting story I'm looking forward to going to see Jersey boys Next weekend and having this weekend off of work sleep is good :) well not much else to report I''ll post more when there is :)

Here's a post

well you know what it's been awhile since my last post, but really the reason I don't blog enough is because my llife isn't that exciting I work I sleep I go back to work I watch a little TV that's about it. this week I worked overtime so I was barely home at all which is stinky, but the money is nice and I'm gonna use it to pay off some bills I will be debt free and financially secure this year despite the economy I'm sticking to my guns on this and it will happen mark my words. oh also what's new I started Yoga recently and it's going pretty good I like it so far I think I'm gonna stick to it. well as I said not much else to report I'm going to Vegas in a couple weeks can't wait it's gonna be fun! well I'll blog more when I have something relatively interesting to say ;)

it's 2008!

Wow I can't believe it's 2008! time sure flies when your having fu....just living normal everyday life. 2007 was a mixed year it had some highs and some major lows and I'm glad it's over and I'm looking forward to a great 2008 I have some big plans for myself this year. that as they unfold I'll be sure to post about. as for now I'm just living life going to work and doing normal stuff been a little busy with the holidays and what not so I haven't been posting much, but I'll try to do better in the coming year.

Well it's been awhile since I've updated so I guess it was time so not a lot of things going Christmas is a week away which is crazy, but I'm pretty much done shopping and I'm ready for Christmas. This last weekend I went to Macys downtown and went and saw the 8th floor display which was the nutcracker it was a cute little display it's cheesy and mostly for kids I hadn't been to it in years it was a real blast from the past. we also saw the Holidazzle parade it was cute there were lots of floats with Christmas lights adorned on them there was a real cute one that was little kids in like a zoo train and they were all dressed in really elaborate costumes it was cute. It was freezing though, but fun. not much else to report work is well work not very exciting I could take it or leave it most days, but I guess who doesn't feel that way about their jobs? not much else to report here is a funny video of Lola trying to get into a stocking.

Happy ThanksGiving

Happy Turkey Day Everyone. I had a good Thanksgiving the usual turkey etc,but it was good. prior to Thanksgiving last Friday we had a surprise party for my Dad he turned the big 60 he was surprised, but he figured something was going happen since this was our third surprise party of the year. oh well.

here's a post

well I was just looking at my page here and realized it probably looks like all I do is watch TV or atleast lately, but that's not true. I've been doing a lot lately I went to Virgina/DC last weekend
We went there to both vacation and to see some relatives it was a fun trip and DC is a cool city to visit I'd like to go back again some day and see a little more of course there is other places I'll probably go before I go there again, but still it will be on my list again. then the very next day after I got back I went to see Maroon 5 it was a cool concert me and Sara had a fun time

we had floor seats that was a different experience I'm used to sitting for atleast part of the concert not so when your on the main floor everyone stands so you have to also if you want to see the stage, but it was fun!
and in other news I did get my little promotion at work and my raise it wasn't quite as much as I had hoped for, but it will do for now ;) this last weekend I went up to the casino and won about $300 woo hoo go me!!! I left soon after I didn't want to risk loosing it I did end up going shopping at MOA on Saturday and another mall on Sunday, but actually I didn't spend that much at the mall so I still have some left Yay ;) well right now I'm tired so I'm gonna head off to bed, but I just wanted to give a little update on my life (to whoever may read this if anyone)

Am I wrong

Is it wrong to be excited about TV! because I am all my favorite shows start next week so I can officially be a couch potato again! oh no. well I'm going out of town on Wednesday night so I'll be a couch Potato to my TIVO when I get back I guess. I can't wait to see some of my favorite shows including. Heroes, Grey's Anatomy and The office among others. I'll try not to be to much of a couch potato, but for the first couple weeks of the season I guess I will be. Premiere week is the best TV week can't wait.


Ok Enough of my meaningless entertainment besides premiere not a lot else going on I'm going to Virginia next week with My Mom to go to DC and see some family should be fun! oh and I also may have gotten a promotion at work my boss says I probably got it, but she's not sure yet and that was on Monday I haven't heard anything yet. mind you this isn't a grand promotion that will really move me up in the company to much it's just a change of status for the kinds of mortgage calls I can get otherwise my job is absolutely the same, but it comes with a raise!!! that's the part I'm hoping for and it better be good ;)

Finally a Post!

Well it's Been over a month since my last post. so I figured It was time to make a new post A lot has gone on over the last month or so. actually. before my last post I was in California going to wine Country!

although this was a month ago I figured it deserved a mention. the main reason we went there was to Surprise my sister for her big 30! birthday! Does she look surprised to you?

I was there for about 4 days total it was a fun time. 2 days after I got back was the bridge tragedy,but I already did a post about that so I won't rehash that., but now it's August an That means State Fair time!!!one of my very favorite things to do in the summer. I actually ended up going 3 times this year. I don't usually go that often just the opportunity came about 3 times and I didn't have anything else going on so I thought what the heck. Below is a crowd shot from the fair. I don't know that guy walking by he just walked into frame as the photo was snapped.

The fair is always fun so much greasy, but delicious foods good things the fair only once a year or I'd weigh 200lbs :) also another thing I like to do is see how much free crap I can get not papers ,but pens, yard stick, or whatever. well I discovered if you want to do this you have to go early or your SOL I went the first time on the 2nd day and people were handing me bags with stuff in them left and right just for walking by their booth I even got a free screw driver from a tool place a good quality one to I was pretty pleased with my haul. then I went on the Sunday of the first weekend and I got some stuff not quite as much as before, but a fair amount, but I was going to see if I could get another screw driver not because I need it just because I'm greedy ;), but they didn't have them! not a big deal because I already had one., but the last time I went was a week later I walked out of there with not one free thing. it was crazy if that had been my first time there I would have been disappointed. so next year when I go I'm gonna go the first or second day :) anyway also next I think I'm going to limit my fair trips to 2 total 3 might have been over kill not really, but I saw everything already by then. oh well I had fun all three times. in other news not a ton going on work is well work I am hopefully getting a promotion next month. Wow that sounds exciting doesn't it except it's not as much as it sounds now I'm a rep 1 and I'm going to be a rep 2 nothing at all changes about my job except I'll get a raise!! i'M Crossing my fingers. at the end of this month I'm going to be going to Virgina/DC to see some relatives with Mom. The day after I get back I'm going to go see Maroon 5 in concert with my friend Sara. I have floor seats I've never had floor seats at a concert so this will be interesting. In other news I had a crazy dream last night that zombies were loose outside took me a few minutes after I woke to shake the feeling that there weren't really zombies outside lol obviously I knew there weren't, but dreams are weird. anyway the reason I had the weird dream was because I just saw a preview for the movie Resident evil no thanks besides movies made from video games are typically crap anyway. I was there seeing Superbad which by the way I highly recommend it was hilarious! a very realistic portray of high school students brought back memories.

Well I've sure rambled on a lot here I haven't blogged in awhile I guess it was pent up. ;)

35W Devastation

in case people hadn't hear there was a major bridge collapse on 35W in Minneapolis this is a road that I take myself from time to time. I can't even imagine what those people went through this has got to be one of if not the worst tragedy to happen in Minnesota at least in modern times. I was going to be going downtown tonight to a meetup at a bar that was actually near this area, but I wouldn't have had to take the bridge. I don't know if I know anyone that was on the bridge the odds are good that I at least know of someone who was on that bridge. I've heard of fatalities I pray for those people and anyone trapped and for their families. of all the times that this tragedy could occur it happened at rush hour! Its so crazy that stuff like this happens without warning. I can't even imagine the terror that these people who were on the bridge must have felt. I'm going to continue to watch the news hoping to get some more details.

Well not really an update, but I haven't been on here in awhile so I thought it was time for a new post. not a lot new is happening just working basically. oh I did sign up for a 401k a few weeks ago that's pretty impressive probably should have done that along time ago. oh well can't change the past gotta start somewhere right? Tomorrow is the fourth of July and Moms having her usual barbecue should be fun the best part is no Work!!! Yay!! I'm gonna sleep!!! this is kind of a boring post because there is not a lot going on the only thing coming up is the Nickleback/Daughtry concert at the end of the month that's something to look forward to anyway. well hmm not much else to say I'll try to think of something more interesting to talk about for my next post.
